Modern Muse | Claudine of HelloSunday

We got the amazing pleasure of virtually meeting Claudine when we collaborated on a lovely self-love giveaway earlier this year! We wanted to share more about her and her amazing eco-friendly business journey.

"My name is Claudine and I’m the owner of Hello Sunday and the mother of two boys. I grew up in North Vancouver and moved to Kitsilano in my 20’s. I’ve always been a creative person and always knew I didn't fit the 9-5 schedule. After watching several documentaries on Netflix about health, wellness and climate change. I knew it was time to make a shift in our day to day. We adopted a vegan diet, became more aware of our carbon footprint, looked into more zero waste options that then snowballed into changing all of our products around the house including my skincare."

We asked Claudine how her first products were made and what led her to start a skincare business.

"I've always suffered with acne prone skin, rashy skin, inflamed skin. After years of trying prescribed medication, drugstore brands and high-end luxury brands, it took changing my diet and experimenting with natural ingredients to finally see my skin started to heal for the first time in years. From the beginning I knew that I wanted to create an eco friendly skincare brand. Ingredients that people would recognize, use glass vessels that could be reused or recycled. Rather than the quick unboxing high from pretty, unnecessary packaging. I chose to focus on simple packaging and ingredients that serve a purpose."

HelloSunday is different from other skincare brands because...

"We don’t use fillers, synthetics or toxins. I want people to fall in love with their skin after using our products!"

Starting a small business and running it solo (because FAIR. is also solo run) can be hard, what has been your biggest struggle?

"The hardest part of being a solo business owner is doing it all yourself. Sometimes I feel like I’m just flying by the seat of my pants! The toughest part over the last year with COVID was when my kids didn't go back to school. Having to run a business and homeschool at the same time was near impossible for me. I really had to reorganize everything. But we found our groove and Hello Sunday thrived as we offered free local delivery. I try to remember the positives."

Anything we should look out for this coming year for Hello Sunday?

"We’re currently working on a bunch of different things. We can’t give much away yet, but you can expect to see some fun things happen over the next several months. In the meantime you can shop Hello Sunday online as well as at various shops and pop-up markets."
